The Equity Center's works by:
- Community-Engaged Scholarship to transform research practices so that local communities drive and benefit from research efforts,
- Resource Knitting to build and support mutually beneficial partnerships locally and throughout the Commonwealth, and
- Youth Power, empowering youth from historically marginalized communities by facilitating access to better educational opportunities.
In turn, UVA operates as a good neighbor to the community and gains a reputation for high quality community-engaged scholarship and grant funding which will attract quality students and faculty, invigorating the University.
By sharing power with UVA, the community will gain resources and rebuild trust in the University, while nurturing authentic partnerships with The Equity Center and strengthening the Center's foundation.
